AgriDigital and FarmSimple partner to make ‘paddock to plate’ a reality for the grains industry
Snapshot
- Australian home-grown technology platforms AgriDigital and FarmSimple aim to digitise grain data from the farm all the way through the supply chain
- The companies have agreed to collaborate to create value for joint customers and in time enable the grain supply chain to meet current and future sustainability reporting requirements
- To date, over 108 million tonnes of grain have been transacted using the AgriDigital Platform, at a value of $17 billion
- Built by farmers for farmers, FarmSimple is a complete farm management system for all crop and livestock types and is certified under Australia’s National Farmers Federation Data Code. Agtech that's grown from real experience and dirt under our nails.
AgriDigital and FarmSimple have today signed an exciting deal as the first step in creating a verified end-to-end dataset for all grain that is grown, harvested, moved, sold, traded, stored and shipped across Australia.
FarmSimple, developed by CroppaCo, is the result of years of proven on-farm product development by the regionally based team of farmers and software engineers to create Australia’s most comprehensive and easy to use farm management solution.
CroppaCo CEO & Co-Founder, Lee Coleman confirmed “this agreement is something both companies have considered for a while. We’ve both built great platforms that help our customers manage their business operations, but we know that a major missing piece is verifiable traceability and the ability to leverage off day-to-day farm data to satisfy the supply chain and our consumers.”
AgriDigital CEO & Co Founder, Emma Weston agrees, “traceability is not yet a requirement for the majority of our customers, but it is coming. We have invested heavily in the connected nature of our platform as a self-verifying source of truth for Australian grain inventories. But, to achieve full end-to-end supply chain traceability, we need to partner with others who share our vision, are committed to creating enduring value for their customers by solving today’s and tomorrow’s problems, and who have a similar ethos to us in how they support their customers. The AgriDigital-Farm Simple collaboration ticks these boxes.”
The two companies share a number of customers and the deal will initially focus on streamlining data between the two platforms to minimise cost and remove duplication, as well as exploring operational and product synergies that enable each company to focus on being best in class in their core offering.
“Over time, we expect that AgriDigital and FarmSimple customers will be able to use their preferred platform to manage their entire grain operations but with the ability to access on request or share data required by downstream customers, overseas or domestic markets and regulators,” Coleman said.
“A lot has changed over the past 8 years” Weston continued, “we started AgriDigital to digitise the grain supply chain, but we have always wanted to enable our customers to take advantage of new revenue streams and opportunities in sustainable supply chains and we cannot do that if we do not include farmers and farm data. FarmSimple’s success in creating such a comprehensive farm management solution can benefit many grain growers who use AgriDigital. We can then focus on building out additional supply chain management capabilities for grain traders, storage operators, brokers, freight providers and consumers like mills, feedlots, dairies and manufacturers.”
The agreement comes into effect on 30 July 2025. Both companies will continue to operate separately, and maintain their own teams and product development focus. The agreement will not immediately impact how the FarmSimple or AgriDigital Platform products work, nor how subscribers use either product. Coleman confirmed “there is no immediate change for our customers or AgriDigital Platform subscribers; we are excited by this collaboration and we will be working with our customers to ensure it delivers real value.”
